He was born May 15, 1917, in Banida, Idaho, to John William Casperson and Edna Maughan Casperson. He attended school in Banida, Clifton, and graduated from Logan High School in 1936. He was drafted into the Army in 1940, and while home on leave met his sweetheart, Beth Glenn. They were married in Birmingham, Alabama, on November 20, 1944. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple one year later. His loving companion, Beth, passed away two months ago on December 29, 2007. Nathan farmed in Banida for several years, and then in 1963, he purchased his uncle's farm in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. He actively ran his farm until his retirement in 1995. Nathan was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. In 1990, he served an LDS mission with his wife to Columbus, Ohio. Nathan was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his children, Bonnie (Rodney) Barfuss, Lava, Vance (Cindy) Casperson, St. George, Utah, Thayne (Leola) Casperson, Bancroft, Peggy (George) Dyches, Moroni, Utah, Dale Casperson, Salt Lake City, Utah, Brett (Nancy) Casperson, Lava, Bart (Angie) Casperson, Inkom; one sister, Melissa (Howard) Ward, Boise, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three grandchildren, six brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 7, 2008, at 1 p.m. in the Lava Hot Springs LDS Church, with Bishop Chaud Spitzer conducting. Friends may visit with the family Thursday, March 6, from 6-8 p.m. at the church in Lava and Friday from noon to 12:45 p.m., also at the Lava Church. Burial will be in the Lava Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Webb Funeral Home of Preston, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Casperson Family Fund at Zions Bank in Pocatello.
