Ivan was born on Feb. 21, 1935 in Garland, Utah, to Mark Fredrick Davis and Ora Marie Reese Davis. He was raised in southern Idaho and graduated from Preston High School in 1953. Ivan was an outstanding athlete who lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track. Some of his athletic records have yet to be broken. He married Rena Brown in 1955, later divorced. In 1957, Ivan graduated from Utah State University having earned both an undergraduate and advanced degree in physical education. He was a member of the Aggie track and basketball teams as well as the ROTC program. Ivan served in the Idaho National Guard for a number of years, reaching the rank of captain. “Coach” Davis led the high school football, baseball and basketball teams of Burley and Preston, Idaho, to many victories in his 25-year tenure. Ivan also lov! ed teaching when not “on the field” coaching. More recently, Ivan was a Regional Director for Surety Life Insurance. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities, including bishopric member (Burley, Idaho) and high priest quorum leadership (Draper, Utah.) Ivan possessed a rare and powerfully positive attitude. His infectious zest for fun and bright smile touched the lives of all those with whom he came in contact. He is survived by his wife of almost five years, June Doman-Davis; two brothers, Dexter F. Davis (Kay), Malin M. Davis (Patty); five children Kim Walker (Tony), Kelly Davis (Trudy), Debra Christiansen (Steve), Kip Davis, Kris Davis (Wendie); five stepchildren, Carol Ann Haggard (Jeff), Lesia Doman, Darrin Doman, Brenda Doman, David Doman (Heather); and 23 grandchildren. A viewing will be held Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East in Sandy, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday beginning at noon in the Eastridge 5th Ward Chapel 11777 South Willow Wood Drive (880 East) in Draper, Utah, with a viewing one hour prior at the ward. Interment in the Larkin Sunset Gardens.
