In tears we watched her suffer We watched her fade away Our hearts were almost broken She fought so hard to stay But when we saw her sleeping So peaceful, free of pain We could not wish her back To suffer that again Lord, keep your arms around her And in your loving care Make up for all she suffered And all that seemed unfair It broke our hearts to lose her But she didn’t go alone For part of us went with her The day God called her home.
