He was born Aug. 9, 1922, in Preston the son of John LeRoy and Clara Kathrina Nuffer Hansen. He was in the Navy during World War II serving in the South Pacific. He married Pearl Petersen on Feb. 14, 1946, in Preston. Their marriage was later sealed in the Logan Temple. She preceded him in death on May 15, 1987. He was very involved with the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Preston. He graciously conducted military rites at graveside services for hundreds of fellow comrades. He took great pride in his flag and his country. He enjoyed playing with his great-grandchildren. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as a high priest, and he also enjoyed doing temple work. He is survived by his daughter, Joycelyn (Eric) Hart, Preston; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; by a sister, Helen (Ray) Horsely, Logan; two brothers, Max (JoAnn) Hansen, Preston, Clair (Allie) Hansen, Preston; and by a half brother, Ariel Hansen, Seattle, Wash. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at noon in the Preston South Stake Center, 55 E. 1st S., Preston, with Bishop Robert Miller conducting. Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home and Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the stake center. Interment and military rites will be held in the Preston Cemetery.
