Marian was born Oct 16, 1927 in Preston, ID to Wilford and Terese Smith. She was the sixth of eight children. She graduated from Preston High School and Utah State University. In 1950 she married Richard Dean Pond in the Logan LDS Temple. Marian was blessed with the gift of music and had a song for every occasion and always a song in her heart! Her music conveyed love of God, family and life to all who gave ear. In her 75 years she served in many capacities as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of her sweetest service experiences was to serve a mission with her companion, Dick, in the Auckland, New Zealand mission from 1992 to 1994. Marian is survived by her husband, Richard, six children, 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by loving sisters, Beth, Deanne, Ruth, and special brother, Richard. From a song Mom wrote and dedicated to her own dear mother (A True Mother's Love), we pay tribute to Mom in her own words: "I see you this day through eyes that now know, the blessing you have been to me; As a woman of faith you have been my ideal; Your sweet presence I ever will feel." Your loving family. Published in the Deseret News on 11/3/2002.
