Nielsen, passed away at her home in Nampa on Nov. 24, 2007, at the age of 79. Our mother was born April 27, 1928, at her family home in Franklin, Idaho, to Agnes Ruth White Parkinson and Roland Hobbs Parkinson. She was the youngest of three girls, the oldest being Ruth Marion and the middle sister Barbara Jane. Our mom graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond, Utah, and attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah. She was a lifelong learner and an avid reader. Her love of learning and reading was a gift to her children as they followed her example. Mom met and fell in love at first sight with a handsome young sailor from Lewiston, Utah, LaMar C. Nielsen. They were married on March 20, 1947, in the Logan LDS Temple. Our parents then went to Omaha, Neb., where our father was accepted into dental school at Creighton University in 1948. In 1952 after our dad finished school, our parents moved to Burley, Idaho, where Dad began to practice dentistry. They lived in Burley for 45 happy years where Mom was very active in community and church activities, local and state garden clubs and where she and Dad made many wonderful life long friends. Our mother was a very talented and creative lady. She was a remarkable gardener and always had a beautiful yard full of flowers wherever she lived. She was a beautiful lady who loved her husband and family dearly. They in turn cherished her. She had a great sense of humor. She loved to entertain friends and family and she loved holidays. She always made them memorable for her family and friends. Her family was one of her most cherished gifts. She was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including serving a mission with Dad in 1985 in the Bismarck, N.D., area. Our mother is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. LaMar C. Nielsen of Nampa, Idaho; her sister, Marion Lien of Ogden, Utah; daughters, Suzanne (Wes) Goible of Caldwell, Idaho, Laurie (Alan) Christensen of Menan, Idaho, Terri (Tom) Zimmer of Brookings, Ore.; and sons, Tracy L. (Iris) Nielsen of Logan, Utah, and Todd C. Nielsen of Meridian, Idaho. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, in the Nampa 18th Ward LDS chapel, 2212 Amity Road, Nampa. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N. Midland Blvd. Nampa, and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church prior to services. In lieu of flowers our family suggests memorial donations to the American Heart Association, 270 S. Orchard, Boise, Idaho 83705. Published in the Logan Herald Journal from 11/27/2007 - 12/5/2007.
