Sheppard, 93, Pocatello, died early Tuesday morning, November 27, 2007, at a local medical center. She was born on January 2, 1914, in Dayton, Idaho, to Vernon and Bertha Callan Phillips. Gwen married George W. Sheppard on June 13, 1932, in Pocatello. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1982. She had been employed by National Laundry and Cleaners, also working for Turner Insurance Company as a secretary/ underwriter and as owner and operator of the Diet Center in Pocatello for many years until ill health forced her to retire. Gwen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in the Relief Society and various other positions. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Gwen enjoyed square dancing, walking, swimming, and was an avid reader. She is survived by a daughter, Sondra (Willie) Wilson, Arco, Idaho; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Callan (Marilyn) Phillips, Paul, Idaho; five sisters, Geraldine (Ron) Barker, Salt Lake City, Utah, Barbara Pattee, American Falls, Idaho, Afton Sielaff, Alpine, Utah, Thelma Page, Firth, Idaho, and Beth Gray, also of Idaho Falls. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, a brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 30, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the Cornelison-Henderson Funeral Chapel, 431 North 15th Ave., with Bishop Brian McLain, a nephew conducting. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon one hour prior to services at the Cornelison-Henderson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello.
