Born Oct. 7, 1907, in Fairview, Idaho, to Nephi S. Johnson and Mary Louisa Egbert, he grew up in Lewiston, Utah, graduated from Utah State University and served an LDS mission to France. On Dec. 29, 1937, he married Ruth Ellen Bennion in the Salt Lake Temple. After teaching for five years in the Granite School District, he returned to Cache Valley to establish the Cavalle Dairy Farm, which he operated for 23 years. He was an active member of the Cache Valley Dairy Association and served as president for one term. He achieved outstanding success with his herd of registered Holstein cows, which received the award for highest milk production in Utah in 1976. He was a sensitive and gentle man, a lover of beauty, an avid gardener and musician, and a perfectionist in all his endeavors. Rolland was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served in many church positions. He was one of the presidents of the 7th Quorum of the Seventy, a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple and worked in the Scandinavian Genealogical extraction program. He loved teaching the youth and always took a special interest in encouraging young people to serve missions. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, Holladay; sons, Sherman (Janis), Springville, Richard (Carol), Tempe, Ariz., Ronald (Sharon), West Jordan; brothers, Milton, of Mendon, and Clyde, of Kanab; sisters, Lucille Hughes, of Salt Lake, and Mary Lou Hendricks, of Smithfield. He will be greatly missed by his 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Anderson; brother, Artell; and sister, Gwen Hodges. Services were held Feb. 27 at the Holladay 28th Ward. Interment was at the Holladay Memorial Cemetery.
