Gale Marie Smith Shaffer), 68, former Preston, Idaho, and Salt Lake City, Utah, resident, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2001, at the Sunshine Terrace in Logan, Utah. She was born Dec. 16, 1932, in Riverdale, Idaho, the daughter of Wellard Fuhriman and Floreda Elaine Olson Smith. She married Mazel Shaffer and they were later divorced. She is survived by her daughter, Robyn Shaffer, Logan; two granddaughters, Tiffany Peterson, Weston, Idaho, and Brandy Burbank, Logan; three grandsons, Tylan, Ryan and Shaylan Hardman, all of Logan; one great-grandson, Dallan Peterson; two sisters, Twila (Max) Abbott, Oxnard, Calif., and Glenda Nelson, Preston, Idaho; and a sister-in-law, Joyce (Doug) Smith, Roy, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Smith; a sister, Iva Lou Smith Herd; three brothers-in-law, William Herd, Spencer Nelson and Ernie Craner; and two nephews, David S. Nelson and Claude Smith. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Riverdale, Idaho Cemetery.
