He was born June 9, 1922, in Logan, the son of Ossie and Florence Downs Ralphs. He was a lifelong resident of Clifton. Dale married Afton Olson on May 24, 1943, in Oxford, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Aug. 30, 1944. They were faithful companions for 59 years. Dale served in the U.S. Army during World War II and spent one and a half years in Japan. During his younger years he enjoyed playing many sports, including baseball as the pitcher and basketball. His hobbies included attending basketball games, watching boxing on ESPN, "Friday Night Fights" and being with his family. Dale was an active high priest in the Clifton Second Ward and served in many capacities including a counselor in the Sunday School and ward and financial clerk under several bishops. His humble, pleasing personality will always be remembered. Throughout his life he exemplified the qualities of an honest, hardworking man. He spent his life as a dairy farmer up to the day he died in Clifton, where he taught his family through his example the importance of diligent hard work, love and honesty. Dale demonstrated his love for his friends and family in his daily acts of kindness and support which will never be forgotten. We will always remember his approving smile and joyous laugh. He is survived by his wife, Afton of Clifton; and one son, Alan and Laurie Ralphs of Layton; his grandchildren, Tenaya and Chad Bessinger of Farmington, Gregrey and Tiffany Ralphs, Jamie Lynn Ralphs, Shanae Ralphs and Jamie Jo Ericksen, all of Layton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Dixie Ralphs and a daughter-in-law, Jacquelynn Robins Ralphs. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at noon at the Clifton LDS Second Ward with Bishop Niel Fuller officiating. Friends may call on Monday at the Webb Funeral Home in Preston from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the chapel from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Clifton Cemetery with military graveside services. Services are under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
