John was born on the 19th of December 1911 in Franklin, Idaho. He was 90 years old. He was the fifth child of John Lance Adamson and Maude Biggs Adamson. The family consisted of six children, four boys and two girls. John stayed in Franklin through his high school years. During this time he became the Junior Class President, a leader in high school counseling and then Student Body President. John also took part in and directed school and church plays. He then attended Idaho University taking a course in electronics. This schooling prepared him to get a job at Boeing Aircraft Company in Seattle. During this time he married Shirley Egan and they had three children, two sons and one daughter, Jay Lamonte, Dennis Boyd and Dorothy Lou. John honorably served in the United States Navy for approximately eight years both on active and reserve status. During his active service he helped to rehabilitate those personnel suffering from the effects of war. Anyone who knew John could see him succeeding in this effort. He later attended photography school and became an exceptional photographer possessing all the required equipment. He became very active in writing throughout his life. He left a wealth of poems, stories and historical documentation of the family. This contribution along with countless photos will live on indefinitely. John retired from Kennecott Copper Corp. with 33 years of service at various positions. John was deeply involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a leader and Chaplin during many river trips with hundreds of scouts. He was active in this for 16 years. John had a wonderful influence on the young scouts. This was brought to his attention many times in later life. He would be stopped on the street and thanked for the help and guidance he gave when it was needed. During this time John received much recognition and many awards including scouting's highest counsel award, the Silver Beaver in 1963. John married Margaret Dangerfield Blosch in 1951 and then in 1954 they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. By this marriage John became the step father to Gordon and Kenny Blosch. John and Margaret had a wonderful life together. They traveled every chance they got for many years. John was a wonderful, caring and generous man who brought much happiness to everyone he met. If you knew John, you loved him. A special thanks to Pete for being a wonderful friend to John in later life. They were a help to each other and they gave the meaning of true friendship a special value. John dedicated his life to helping others. We view the world as a better place because of his influence and because he was a part of our lives. John is preceded in death by his father, mother, three brothers, one sister and his two sons. He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Lou Adamson Jones of El Paso Texas; his sister, Charlotte Adamson Bell of Harrisville, Utah; step-sons Gordon Blosch of Boise, Idaho; and Kenny Blosch of Salt Lake City, Utah; and many friends, nieces and nephews. A graveside ceremony will be conducted Monday, July 1, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 W. 4100 So. West Valley City.
