Vera was born January 1, 1915 at Preston, Idaho, the daughter of John Albert and Mary May Bowman Barfuss. Vera married Brigham ''Brig" Edward Olson December 5, 1935, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Brig passed away October 5, 1982. Brig and Vera lived in the Virginia (Downey area), where they farmed before moving to Pocatello in 1966. Vera graduated from Downey High School. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had served in all organizations. She had served as a 4-H leader and had been a member of the Downey Study Club. Vera had a great love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a love of gardening and had won several Golden Arrow Awards; she also enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, was an excellent cook and enjoyed reading and followed the Utah Jazz and St. Louis Cardinals. Vera is survived by a son and 2 daughters; Randall J. Olson, Pocatello, ID; RaeLee (Jay) Winn, Salt Lake City, UT.; and Denise (Lynn) Cornelison, Pocatello, ID; also 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; also a brother Delmar (Clea) Barfuss, Downey, ID, and sisters; Lorraine (Leonard) Povey, Clifton, ID; Elaine Ellesson, Fort Hall, ID; and a sister in-law, Faye Barfuss, Downey, ID. She was also preceded in death by a son, Daryl, a daughter, Nadine, and brothers, Willis, Narvel, Darold and Voy; and a sister, Alta May Barfuss. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 29, at noon at the Pocatello, Idaho, Stake Building Chapel, 655 S. Grant St. The family will meet friends at the Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday at the Pocatello, Idaho, Stake Bldg. from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Downey cemetery. The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Benson for his many years of care; also the staff at the Gables, who cared for her recently.
