Davies Barich Davis 5/21/1921~ 6/17/2007 SALT LAKE - Grace Sutherland Spongberg Davis, 86, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2007 after a long illness. Grace was born in Preston, Idaho May 21, 1921 to Thomas and Grace Sutherland Spongberg. She grew up in Preston and graduated from the Oneida Academy. She was employed during World War II at Remington Arms and worked part-time at Deseret Book, JC Penneys, Sears, and Memorial Medical. She was active in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Chapter Laureate Eta in Salt Lake City for 50 years. She enjoyed genealogy work and her association in Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She made many cherished friends and always loved having people around her. She looked forward to trips with friends and family, was happy entertaining and socializing, and always offered kind words of encouragement. Grace felt much contentment living in her home on Kenwood St. for 60 years. The friendship and compassion shown by neighbors and ward members will not ! be forgotten. Grace married Irvin L.. Davies in the Salt Lake Temple June 16, 1944. He passed away in April, 1952. Later married Nicholas M. Barich July 19, 1953. They were married 30 years before he passed away January, 1984. Later married Heber J. Davis April 27, 1985. Grace and Heber were married 22 years. Heber cared for Grace with much love and concern. Grace's family members thank him for trying so hard to meet her needs and keeping a cheerful attitude. Grace loved giving service in her church callings; Relief Society Secretary, YW president, Nursery Leader, Visiting Teacher and many others. Grace served as a temple worker in the Salt Lake Temple for five years. Preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Mary, Ruth, and Beulah. Survived by her two children, Dennis R. Davies and Patricia (Stan) Lawrence, eight grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are Saturday, June 23, 11:00 a.m. at Crystal Heights II Ward, 1970 E. Stratford Ave. Viewings w! ill be Friday evening, 6-8 at Russon Bros.
