She was born April 23, 1908, in Salt Lake City, Utah as the firstborn to John Haigh and Eliza Ann James Glenn. Marian grew up in Salt Lake City except for a brief period of time when the family lived in Nevada. She graduated from Emerson High School and received a teaching certificate from the University of Utah. She then served a Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northwestern States Mission. She married Angus Reed Condie on June 7, 1935, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They settled on the farm east of Preston, Idaho, where they focused their energy on raising their six sons. Angus died on Nov. 16, 2003. Marian's life was one of service to her family, church and community. She filled many church callings including Stake and Regional Young Women's President, teacher and many music positions. She spent many hours doing genealogy research and writing several volumes of her journal. She had a beautiful alto voice and loved music and drama. The beautiful flower gardens that adorned her home attested to her green thumb. She was a longtime member of the Preston Fine Arts Club. In 1975, she and Angus served together as missionaries for the church in the Oklahoma, Tulsa Mission. Marian enjoyed living in Boise for a couple of months each winter for the 12 years that Angus served in the State Legislature. They served together as officiators in the Logan LDS Temple for 13 years. In their later years, she and Angus spent the winters with their son Philip and family in St. George, Utah, but were always anxious to get back to Cache Valley at the first hint of spring. She is survived by five of their six sons, Boyd (Lynda) of North Logan, Utah; Philip (Marva) of St. George, Utah; Keith (Kay) of Idaho Falls; Clyde (Chris) of Glendale, Calif.; and Clair (Nancy) of Plain City, Utah. She has 28 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her oldest son, Reed (Mardi); a daughter-in-law, Chris (Clyde); one grandson, Angus; two sisters, Eleanor Kirby (Floyd); and Geneve Hand (Emerson); and two brothers, Harold (June), and James (Gwen). Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the Preston 5th Ward Chapel at 213 S. 2nd E. in Preston, Idaho with Bishop Craig Haslam officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral. Funeral services are under the direction of Webb Funeral Home in Preston, Idaho. Burial will be in the Preston Cemetery. Published in the Logan Herald Journal from 6/13/2007 - 6/20/2007. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
