She was born October 13, 1905 in Preston, Idaho, the daughter of Albert J. Carver and Eliza Stevenson. As a newborn, she went with her family by horse and sleigh to live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They later moved to the family homestead in Eden, Utah. She was a resident of Eden until she married E. Carl Green in the Salt Lake Temple on May 8, 1929. They resided in Ogden Valley for five years while her husband was principal of the Eden school. In 1935 they moved to Taylor where she resided until her passing. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Taylor Ward for 67 years and was affectionately known to many as "Grandma Green." She unselfishly shared her abundant talents as she blessed the lives of her husband, family and community. Grandma served in many Ward and Stake leadership positions. She loved Relief Society and working in the Ogden LDS Temple. Perhaps her most enjoyable Church experience was serving as "Grandmother" to the Calgary Canada missionaries while her son served as mission president. Grandma was a gifted seamstress and had the reputation as a creator of beautiful wedding gowns for many brides, including her daughters and granddaughters. With talented hands and a patient heart she taught many the art of homemaking. During the traditional fall pheasant hunts, Grandma would prepare delicious chicken noodle soup and hot rolls for her family. Until age slowed her, she cared for her own garden. She was a local authority on homemade candy and her famous "Butter Mints" graced the menus of many parties and wedding receptions. As a grandmother, she loved all of her 17 grandchildren. Each knew that he or she was her "favorite". This love extended to her 50 great grand- children. She is survived by her son, Melvin C. (Eleanor) Green of Centerville and one daughter, Loralee G. (Earle) Sanders of Taylor. Her husband, E. Carl Green, her daughter Janean Green Chipman, one brother, Orlo S. Carver and two sisters, Theo C. Peterson and Wanda Carver, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 19, 2002 at 11:00 a.m., at the Taylor Chapel (2200 South and 4300 West) in Ogden, Utah. Friends and family may call at Myers Mortuary (845 Washington Boulevard) Friday, October 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Taylor Chapel. Internment, Eden Cemetery. The family recognizes and appreciates the efforts of Terry Thompson and Diane Baker for the love and attention given Grandma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the E. Carl and Thelma C. Green Scholarship fund at Weber State University. Published in the Deseret News on 10/17/2002.
