Phillips passed away peacefully October 26, 2002. He was born Oct 4, 1923 to Moroni Lorenzo and Ida Callan Phillips in Dayton, ID. He married Norma Jacqueline Kershaw Jan 26, 1943, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death. He then married Jerry Nielson Childs July 26, 1968 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death. Later married Cheri Silver Fogg June 12, 1975, later divorced. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many positions in the church, including positions in the stake high council, bishopric, Scouting programs, and sports programs. He enjoyed his association with many young men and women in basketball, baseball, and scouting, and was a positive influence in many of their lives. In his retirement, he worked at the Jordan River Temple. Preceded in death by his parents; two wives; and brothers, Donald, Stanley; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by brother, Perry Phillips, Dayton, ID; sisters, Ella Kent, Weston, ID, Donna (LaMar) Carlson, Richmond, UT, Connie (Jerry) Bunn, Richmond, UT; 12 children, Gregory (Lynn Ann) Phillips, currently serving as an LDS Mission President, Chihuahua, Mexico Mission, Roxann (Cyril) Webb, South Jordan, UT, Angelia (Chuck) Borchert, South Jordan, UT, Debra (Douglas) Maughan, Cedar City, UT, Kenna Egginton, Roy, UT, Kim (Christine) Childs, Alpine, UT, Tammy (Jerry) Waller, Rifle, CO, Kris Perschon, Holladay, UT, Brad (Tami) Fogg, Hemet, CA, Teri (Patrick) Flynn, Mesa, AZ, Michelle (Eric) Denney, Running Springs, CA, Nicole (Dave) Slivers, Smithfield, UT; 44 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Bland served honorably in the Navy during World War II, South Pacific. He attended Colorado State Univer-sity. He was a homebuilder by trade. He also worked as a vocational teacher in the Granite School District for many years, teaching young people his trade. Through his great example, he taught the importance of working hard, the satisfaction of a job well done, the importance of family, and to always have love and respect for everyone. Services will be Tues. 10:30 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy (10550 S), where friends may call Mon. 6-8 p.m. and Tues. 9-10:15. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
