The family moved to Herri-man, UT and later to Lehi, UT. She attended BYU, USU, and the U of U. After graduating she engaged in what was the love of her life; teaching children in elementary school. She married Ben Ericksen Swann June 27, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. For more than 45 years she taught, and loved children she taught in Salt Lake, Magna, Preston, ID and six years were spent in the school rooms in Hawaii. A brief part of her career was as a principal in Preston but the real joy for her was with the children in the class room. Because she wasn't blessed with children of her own, those she taught became the recipients of her special love. She was a member of the LDS church and held numerous callings mostly with the youth. Particularly she worked in the Jr. Sunday School. She was a visiting teacher for many years, a temple worker in Hawaii, and spent many happy hours going to the temple. She loved to travel, was incredibly creative, loved animals, and was very caring for all around her. A visit to Aunt Sylvia always included a special treat. She is survived by 10 nieces and nephews, Mary Jane, Donna, Ruth, Ila, Sylvia, Larry, Viola, Calvin, Darrell, Barbara; numerous great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marvin Allen; and sister, Emma Jane Rollo Lewis. She touched many lives and will be remembered always. Her legacy will continue on in the lives of her family and those she taught. Services will be Wed. Oct 16, 2002 11 a.m., Larkin Mortuary, 260 E.
