Born January 2, 1918, in Preston, Idaho to Franklin Orlando and Emma Christensen Hales. She was the youngest of five children. Bonnie spent most of her life in Salt Lake. She loved to play tennis and bridge and as a young girl her days were spent at Liberty Park doing both. She graduated from South High and at the time was working for ZCMI as a newspaper and Tiffin Room model. It was there that she met John M. Clayton and they were married on February 22, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Bonnie worked as a secretary and spent many years working for Head Start and Van Gas Company. She served in every organization of the LDS church but especially enjoyed her time with the Cub Scouts and the Gleaners in Liberty Ward. Bonnie loved her family and they always came first. She shared many wonderful times with her sisters and their spouses, her many nieces and nephews, spouses and their children, her own grandchildren and great grandchildren. She opened her heart to anyone that needed a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children, Toni (Rick) Farr, Alpine; Kelly M. (Judy) Clayton, Highland; Six grandchildren, Alicia (Mike) Hudson, Eric (Cathy) Farr, Tristin, Justin, Matthew and Marissa Clayton; two great-grandchildren: and loving sister, Verda Seal. Preceded in death by husband, John M., infant son John, parents, brother Glenn Hales, sisters, Erma Ogden and Lois Frazier. Special thanks to the Beehive House in American Fork, especially Rosy, Shauna and Domingos, and the staff in the Memory Support Unit at Courtyard at Jamestown, Provo, for their loving care of Bonnie over the last few years. Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Thursday, October 17, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy. The family will hold a private Graveside service. In lieu of flowers the family would suggest a contribution to a Breast Cancer Organization of your choice.
