Palmer, 74, passed away at home Tuesday, October 8, 2002. She was born May 12, 1928, to Theadore Mickelsen and Eva Maria Bevan in Cache, Idaho. She was raised in the Teton Valley until the age of 10, when her father passed away and the family moved to Pocatello. She attended schools here and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1947. Dorothy married DeLoy Palmer August 21, 1948, in Pocatello. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple August 31, 1985. Dorothy and DeLoy lived in Brigham City, Preston, Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello while DeLoy was employed by Block’s. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held various callings. Her most cherished calling was as a name extractor in genealogy. She dearly loved the Teton Valley, “family,” painting, gardening, flowers/yard, camping, fishing, the outdoors and especially her children and grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her husband, DeLoy, Pocatello: daughters, Deborah Lynn (Terry) Gardner, Pocatello, Sandra Lee (Mike) Packer, Riverton, Utah, Shauna Dee (Don) Wood, Pocatello; sisters, Eunice Prescott, Roseville, Calif., Esther (Tom) Williams, Glendale, Ariz.; a brother, Milo (Jean) Mickelsen, Pocatello; sisters-in-law, Thelma Mickelsen, Blackfoot, Idaho, LaVaun Mickelsen, Hamer, Idaho; grandchildren, Joseph Stephen Gardner, Provo, Utah, Stephanie (Jeff) Brienholt, Salt Lake City, Utah, Sarah (Gabe) Salazar, Magna, Utah, Heather Packer, Riverton, Utah, Mark, Matthew and Amanda Overocker, Pocatello; great-grandchildren, Alicia Gardner, Australia, Cooper and Sydnee Salaza, Magna, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Talmage and Reed Mickelsen, granddaughter, Ruth Ann Gardner and brother-in-law, Carl Prescott. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2002, at the Alameda First Ward, with Bishop Bark Reed officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight, Thursday, October 10, at the Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave., Pocatello, and from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Mountainview Cemetery.
