Born March 15, 1927 in Clifton, Idaho, the son of Adam Wilson and Orriss Clemens Carpenter. Attended elementary and high school at Clifton. Served in the AUS (Army of The United States) in 1945 and 1946 in Germany. Married Joyce Able, February 28, 1949. Graduated from Idaho State College in 1952. Employed by KIFI-TV, Idaho Falls, Idaho from 1952 to 1954 in the design and construction of their TV facilities and also of several other TV stations. Began working for KUTV in 1954 as Studio Chief Engineer. Promoted to Chief Engineer in 1958 and to Direction of Engineers in 1961. Became Vice President of Engineering in 1979. While employed by KUTV, assisted in the on-site design and construction to KIFI-TC since being employed there. Also served as a consultant for several other broadcast facilities, including: KGMB-TV, Honolulu, Hawaii, Telemations, Inc., Salt Lake City, Utah, a manufacturer of broadcast equipment; Triax Corporation, Alpine, Utah. Builder of several TV stations for the government of Nigeria, Africa. Worked in cooperation with other Broadcast TV stations in establishing the translator and low power TV systems which serve Utah and all surrounding states. Worked as a consultant to cable television company Upper ! Valley Telecable, Idaho Falls, Idaho. A true pioneer of television. Survived by his wife, Joyce; sons, Alan, Doug (Marilyn), Steve (Tanya) and daughter, Debra (Hanz); grandchildren, Shawna, Preston, Lisa, Stacey, Jason, Keara; great-grand-children, Candice, Ashley, Bailey, Austin, Brayden, Savana; and very good friend, Stuart. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at the Lakeview Cemetery, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and again Tuesday morning from 11:00-12:00 p.m. prior to services at the cemetery.
