He was born October 3, 1928, in Whitney, Idaho, a son of Charles and Vivian Condie Swainston. He married LaDean Foster on August 6, 1948. They had four daughters, Sherry, Kristy, Julie, and Lori. They later divorced. He then married Barbara Spatig on December 6, 1985. Barbara preceded him in death. Wayne ran the family farm and had various occupations, but repaired almost every furnace in Franklin County. He was active in Scouting, loved to fish, and being in the outdoors. The family would like to thank the employees of the Franklin County Nursing Home for the loving care they gave to Wayne. He is survived by three of his daughters, Sherry (Val) Sparrow, Julie (Michael) Stenberg, Lori (Ben) Jones; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Carol (Douglas) Merrill. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristy, by his parents and by his stepmother, Ellen Lewis. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2002, in the Whitney First Ward Chapel, with Bishop Michael Stenberg conducting. Friends may call Sunday, March 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home,109 E. Oneida, Preston, and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Whitney Cemetery.
