Norine Sears Alder Greaves returned home to her Heavenly Father and those she loved who went on before. She was born April 3, 1910 in Farmington, Utah, later moving to Clifton, Idaho with parents. Florence Evangeline Rollins and Parley Alvin Sears. Norine was one of nine children. Norine married Charles Lewis Alder on July 29, 1929 in Rigby, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan temple. Norine and Lewis raised six children in the years they lived in Whitney, Idaho: LuRene (Dee) Walmsley, San Jose, Calif.; Richard (Jackie) Alder, Oakland, Calif.; Joan (Larry) Dahle, Preston; Charles Reese (Karrol) Alder, Dingle, Idaho; Douglas (Jean) Alder, Ogden, Utah; and Kevin (Nancy) Alder, Orem, Utah. Norine was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Through the years, she held positions of responsibility and served her family and community all of her life. Norine embraced simplicity, hospitality, frugality and integrity, and her actions reflected her commitment to these virtues. All who know Norine delighted in her sense of fun. Her gift for raising flowers was evident in each home in which she lived. Her home was always open to family and friends and was a gathering place for her children and grandchildren. Norine worked as a cashier at J.C. Penney in Preston, at Deseret Industries and at Don Greaves’s Central Market. She was a devoted member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Norine loved playing kickball and bingo and “just visiting”. She had a gift for needlework, and blessed those she loved with many afghans, quilts, hand-hooked rugs, and wall hangings. Norine played piano for a dance band for many years. Her enjoyment of the music of Lawrence Welk and of the Utah Jazz lasted until the end of her days. Norine’s greatest joy came from keeping up with all the doings of her family. Her 90th birthday was celebrated at the Franklin County nursing home with all of her children and many friends and extended family in attendance. She made many friends among the staff and volunteers at the nursing home where she lived for exactly three years to the day. They cared for her with tenderness and skill. Norine and her family appreciate the gentle care ! they extended. Norine is survived by all of her children, 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, as well as her sister, Georgiana Mott and brother Blaine (Arlene)Sears.
