She was born April 14, 1912, in Groveland, Idaho, the daughter of Joseph Leonard and Violet Belle McDonald Merrell. She married Hyrum Glade Johnson on July 8, 1930, in Inkom, Idaho. Their marriage was later sealed in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1996. She enjoyed painting pictures, crafts, making dolls, cooking, camping and traveling. She was interested in gaining more knowledge about the world around her, and took classes for many years in tie making, sewing, tailoring, doll making, Dale Carnegie, oil painting, tole painting, and many more. She participated in the community program and taught painting classes at the middle school in Arimo. She cleaned and sewed new clothes for old dolls and donated to charity for many years. The last two dozen were completed in May of 2002. he made afghans for many of her family members. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and held a variety of positions in this organization. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and participated in many teaching and positions in the youth organization and Relief Society. She is survived by three daughters and one son, Eliza Belle Templeton, Helena, Montana, David (Gloria) Johnson, Preston, Idaho, Cheryl (Gary) Dahlke, Thompson Falls, Montana, Marey (Lawrence) Boldt, Rupert, Idaho; 26 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hyrum, by a son, Richard Glade Johnson, by a daughter, Sheron Arene Fowers, by her parents, and by two brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the Arimo Stake Center. Friends may call Wednesday. Aug. 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the stake center and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., also at the stake center. Burial will be in the Inkom, Idaho Cemetery. Arrangements are by Webb Funeral Home, Preston, Idaho.
