The Loagn Herald Journal 07-30-2001 Gloria "Sandy" Spackman Dockstader, 66, returned to our Heavenly Father on July 29, 2001, after a courageous battle with diabetes and its many complications. Her last days were spent surrounded by her family whom she loved more than life itself. Gloria was born on May, 29, 1935, the third of seven children born to Edwin "Ted" and Elna Harris Spackman. She lived all of her life in Preston, Idaho. She worked at the Snooty Cat, Stan's Market, Maverick Country Store (Ransom's), in the family business, and was forced to retire early from Presto Products due to problems with her health. She was active in the LDS church and held various positions in the Primary, Relief Society, scouting and Young Women's organizations. She loved spending time with her family and had a special bond with each of her grandchildren. She loved to draw and crochet and enjoyed golf, genealogy, and being outdoors. She is survived by her husband, Dee (Preston), five children: Rick (Maxine) Dockstader, P reston, Teresa (Alan) Conlin, San Jose, Calif., Rochelle (Dell) Simper, Logan, Kim Dockstader, Preston, and Mindy (Brad) Daley, Preston; mother, Elna Spackman, Preston; one brother, Gylde (Ann) Spackman, Clinton, Utah; four sisters, BarDee (Ross) Hall, Preston, LaRae (Dee) Shrives, Preston, Marie (Mike) Hudson, Plymouth, Utah, and Wendy (Doug) West, Preston; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Ted Spackman, and brother Craig Spackman. The family extends a special thanks to the staff at the Dialysis Center at the Logan Regional Hospital and those who served the family through IHC Hospice of Cache Valley services for their wonderful care and concern during difficult times. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, in the Preston 8th Ward Chapel, 213 S. 200 East, with Bishop Jon Hyde conducting. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the 8th Ward Chapel and also Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Idaho Cemetery.
