He was born Aug. 8, 1912, in Preston, the son of Karoline Olsen and Mads Anderson Christensen. He married Ina Bowman Nov. 2, 1935, in Logan, Utah, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Swend was a blacksmith and ran a saw mill in Mink Creek, Idaho. He worked for construction companies. He later moved to Whitney and worked for the Jack Parsons Construction Company until he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He is survived by two daughters and three sons: Caroline (Lynn) Jensen of Mink Creek, Idaho, Albert (Sally) Anderson of Libby, Mont., Melvin (Lorre) Anderson of Ogden, Utah, Pauline (Stan) Brown of Garland, Utah, and Ralph (Twila) Anderson of Lago, Idaho; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elsie of Preston, and Donna of Las Vegas, Nev. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ina, and two brothers, Howard and Chester. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston. Friends may call from noon until 1:30 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mink Creek Idaho Cemetery.
