Dean was born April 4, 1934, at Cleveland, Idaho, the son of Rulon Ransom and Annie Lyle Smith Burton. He married Lois Venice Benson on June 17, 1955, at Grace. Dean was a lifelong resident of Cleveland, being educated at Thatcher and Grace. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After serving in the Army, he returned home to the family farm where he worked until his retirement. During his retirement Dean and Lois were able to travel and spend a number of winters in Mesquite, Nev. Dean was a member of the Cleveland and Thatcher Wards of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served as scout leader and ward dance director. Dean was president of the Cleveland Irrigation Company and also of the Cleveland Cemetery District for most of his life. He served on the Grace school board for eight years. Dean had a passion for hunting and fishing. He also loved to golf, water-ski, bowl and dance. Dean really loved any activity when he was with his family and friends. Dean is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lois; his children LaDean (Blaine) Andreasen, Evanston, Wyo.; Blaine (Robyn) Burton, Cleveland; Jim (Marie) Burton, Grace; and a twin sister, Dorothy (Jed) Kofoed, Preston, Idaho; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at noon at the Thatcher LDS Chapel. Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs and on Wednesday at the Thatcher Chapel from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Cleveland Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home. at Hillcrest Haven Convalescent Center in Pocatello, Idaho. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, American Falls 4th Ward Chapel, 650 Pocatello Ave., American Falls, with Bishop Jerry Hubbs conducting. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Davis-Rose Mortuary, 170 Idaho St., American Falls and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in the Neeley Cemetery, American Falls. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
