Andy was born May 2, 1912, in North Logan, Utah, to John Jacobs and Ruby Evangeline Nelson King, the first of eight children. His growing-up years were divided by living in North Logan and Arbon, Idaho. He enjoyed growing up living around his grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. He attended school in North Logan and graduated from South Cache High School. He loved horses, dancing, and playing baseball, music, and especially listening to his brother, Jack, sing. Andy married "his beautiful" Virginia Morse on February 26, 1934. Their marriage was later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on April 8, 1937. A son, Richard, completed their family. They worked together establishing a chicken/egg business in North Logan as well as helping his father on the dry-farm in Arbon, Idaho. He was active in church and civic affairs. They later sold the business in North Logan to support Andy while he served a mission in the North Central States. When he returned from his mission, he decided to make farming his profession. He bought his Dad's dry farm, worked hard at it growing good crops of grain, and provided a good living for his family. They decided to build a home in Preston, Idaho. But Virginia wasn't able to enjoy it long, as she passed away on Nov. 19, 1977. His son, Richard, died July 3, 2004. In 1981, Andy was blessed to marry Albertina (Tina) C. Pendleton in the Logan LDS Temple for time. They shared 15 years of good companionship working together in the temple, doing genealogy work, serving a mission to Florida/Tallahassee Mission, and traveling. He finally decided he would have to part with his farming life and sold his Arbon farm in 1989. They enjoyed raising beautiful flower gardens. Sadly, Tina passed away March 3, 1996. Andy was an avid hunter of elk, deer, bear, duck, pheasants and geese. Fishing offered the best of all therapies. He was a dedicated angler and enjoyed ice fishing too. He enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips shared with family members and friends. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served diligently in leadership and teaching positions wherever he lived. He had a strong testimony of the gospel and enjoyed sharing it often. Even in the latter years, when his memory may have failed him, he never forgot his testimony. He served in the temple for 16 years. He had a strong conviction of tithing and believed in the blessings from it Andy was blessed with great health. He was honest and dependable. Many a family member and friends were recipients of loans and help from him. He was involved in his brother and sisters' lives and shared joy in their posterity. He was a welcome guest in the homes of all his nieces and nephews. The last four years of his life were spent relying on help from the Franklin County Transitional Care Center, Heritage Home, and Legacy House of Logan. He was so appreciative of all the care and help given to him. Andy is survived by one sister, Elaine Ferrin, of Pahrump, Nevada, and many caring nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Those preceding him in death are his mother, father, sisters: Norma King, Ruby Marie King, Maurine Nelson, Violet Nuhn, DeVola Hayes, brother, Jack (John Junior) King, two wives, and his son, Richard. The funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the Preston South Stake Center, 55 East 1st South, in Preston, Idaho, with Bishop Brandon Stephenson conducting. Viewing will be Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Webb Funeral Home, 109 East Oneida, in Preston and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the Stake House. Interment will be the Logan Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your Ward Missionary Fund.
