He was born Oct. 15, 1917, to Edward P. and Maryann Chadwick Moser. Earl married Phyllis Christensen Jan. 19, 1940, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Earl farmed all of his life in Little Egypt east of Preston on the family farm. Early in his life he worked at the sugar factory in Whitney, Idaho, and then for Del Monte until he retired in 1979. He left a lasting impression with all who worked with him. His life was full of service for his friends, family, community and church. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club for 15 years, serving as president for two terms. Earl was chairman of the Franklin County Fair Board for nine years and worked at the Area Canning Center for approximately 17 years. He served as president for both the Preston-Whitney-Nashville Culinary Water Company and the Preston Whitney Reservoir Company, and spent numerous years on both boards. "Newt" served an LDS mission to Eastern Canada from 1937-1939. Some of the church positions he held were Scoutmaster, Mutual president, dance director, home teacher, bishop (seven years) and high councilman. Earl has always enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and spending time with his family and many friends. His birthday was traditionally celebrated in the mountains on opening day of deer season with all his family and anyone who happened to drop in for breakfast around the campfire. Earl's arms were always opened wide, accepting everyone with a whistle on his lips and a twinkle in his eyes. You could count on him knowing the first line of every song, which he sang with gusto. He is survived by his wife and children, Glade (Peggy), Judy (Tom Petterborg), Edward (Connie), Stephen (Launa), Randy (Sherrie), Becky (Reuben Orozco), all of Preston, Idaho, and Pamela (Steven Ransom) of West Point, Utah; a brother, Willis Moser of Whitney; 31 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, three great-grand-stepchildren, and three great-great-grandstepchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Albert, Orval, and Joe, sisters, Adell Viehweg, Arvilla Hess and Anna Dahle, and a granddaughter, Kelly Petterborg. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Sunshine Terrace (and all of Wing One), Webb Funeral Home and to the members of Preston Fifth Ward. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at the Preston Fifth Ward church house, 213 S. First E., Preston, with Bishop Craig Haslam conducting. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment will be in the Whitney Cemetery.
