She was born Aug. 3, 1923, in Eureka, Utah, the third child of Parkin Kennan and Nettie Van Noy Hayes. She was raised and educated in Richmond, Utah. She married her sweetheart, John Wesley Coltrin in a double ceremony on Aug. 18, 1939, in Moore, Idaho, with their best friends, Vic and Elaine Dunkley. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah, Temple on March 7, 1947. They lived and worked in Idaho, California, and Utah, and in later years wintered in Mesa, Arizona. They traveled extensively. After the death of her companion, she served several family history missions to England-London South, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the Family History Library and the Joseph Smith Building in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and had faithfully served in the extraction and family history library. She was a Relief Society secretary, Sunday school teacher, organist and a visiting teacher for over 55 years, all of which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was also very active in community service, having served in several PTA capacities. She is survived by her daughters, Bette Dawn (Richard) Hogebaum of Taylorsville, Utah, Carren Iseri of Ontario, Oregon, Janet (Craig) Haslam of Preston, Deborah (Steven) Wilcox of Pocatello, Idaho; her son, Ronald (Vicki) Coltrin of Logan, Utah; a son-in-law, Don Patton of Preston; her sister, LaVon Peterson; brother, John (Donna) Hayes; sisters-in-law, Enid Coltrin, Marie Ray, and Shirley Hayes. She leaves behind a legacy of 25 grandchildren, 40 greatgrandchildren and three greatgreat-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her daughter, Janice Lee Patton, her parents, and two brothers, Charles Ray and Parkin Kennan Hayes, Jr. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at the Preston South Stake Center, 55 E. First S., Preston. Friends may call Friday, Oct. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, and Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the stake center.
