June was born July 11, 1917, in Glendale, Idaho, to S. Vern and Lucia Euleah Thomander Nelson. She married J. Leo Palmer on November 14, 1935, in the Salt Lake City Temple. June never lived far from her birthplace just outside Preston, Idaho, where she lived most of her life. She and Leo were wellknown and respected residents of Preston, where they were both active in church and civic affairs. June was an active member of the LDS Church, where she held positions in the Relief Society, MIA, Primary and Golden Gleaner organizations. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Diane and Jay Carlson, Logan, Shirlene and Bill Wilson, Pocatello, Alan and Nancy Palmer, Logan, and Gordon and Julie Palmer, St. George, Utah; siblings, Hope Workman, Salt Lake City, Utah, Beverly (Ralph) Mortenson, Preston, LaRue and Elliot Smith, Preston, Leah (Reese) Almond, Salt Lake City, Utah, Gary and Diane Nelson, Las Vegas, Nev. June was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Leo, and two children - daughter, LaDene, and son, Gene, as well as one great-grandson, Jayson Carlson. While those left behind will miss her, she has now taken a step that she has joyfully anticipated, and we know that she is now enjoying Leo's hearty laugh, LaDene's sweet spirit and the opportunity to cuddle her baby Gene, Leo. June is the proud grandmother of 18 and great-grandmother of 23 and eight-ninths greatgrandchildren. June and Leo's home was always filled with love, laughter and the smell of fresh sweet rolls and Sunday dinners. Their home was always the favorite place for grandchildren to visit. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 23, 2007, at noon in the Preston Eighth Ward Chapel, 213 S. 200 E. in Preston, with Bishop Randy Wakley conducting. A viewing will be held Thursday evening, Feb. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 East Oneida, in Preston and Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Internment will be in the Preston City Cemetery. The family wishes to express their great appreciation to Dr. David Beckstead, Dr. Ali Ben-Jacob and Dr. Vera Carlson for their compassionate and tender care of June during her final illness.
