Surnames: Raymond, Christoffersen Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.idaho.counties.franklin/2027/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Idaho State Journal, 02/21/07 MONTPELIER - Daniel James Raymond, 93, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007, at the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital with his wife of 72 years at his side. Jim was born on September 22, 1913, in Smithfield, Utah, to Wallace and Julia Ann Raymond. He spent his boyhood growing up in Smithfield. He married Katheryn Christoffersen on January 21, 1935, in Preston, Idaho. This marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on November 1, 1940. To this union was born two children, Kay LaVar and Julia Ann. Jim was fortunate to obtain a job with Utah Power and Light in 1937, and worked for this company for 38 years until his retirement. He was an extremely hard worker. His job moved the family from Smithfield to Grace, then to Lava, to Montpelier, and then to Preston. He served as district representative of the Montpelier office from 1959 to 1972. After his retirement, he and Katheryn enjoyed traveling and spending their winters in warmer climates. Jim served as a member of the Lions Club and the Rotary Club. He loved gardening and was an avid fisherman. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held many priesthood offices. Jim is survived by his wife, Katheryn; his daughter, Julie; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Russell. Funeral services will be held February 23, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the Matthews Mortuary Chapel, 702 Clay St. There will be a viewing preceding the services from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Interment will be in the Montpelier Cemetery.
