Maurice was born on September 23,1923, in Thatcher, Idaho, to Willis York Wright and Edith Blanche Larson. Maurice attended Thatcher Elementary and graduated from Thatcher High School. He married Alice Barthlome on September 26, 1943, and spent 63 years together. Maurice was then called to serve in the armed forces, and went on to receive many military honors. He served in World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. After returning home from the war, he farmed for several years in Thatcher with his father. He then worked at the Monsanto Mine in Soda Springs. Employed by the J.R. Simplot Company, he moved his family to Pocatello, and he worked as a heavy equipment operator in the Gay Mine, later retiring in 1989. He enjoyed building things from wood, fishing, bowling and pool. He also enjoyed traveling. Maurice is survived by his wife, Alice; children, Suzanne (Terry) Griffin, Newton, Utah, Bette (Tom) Bloxham, Pocatello, Craig (Kate) Wright, Pocatello, Vickie Rupp, Highland, Utah, Nancy (Stan) Cope, Pocatello; sister, Nadine Wright, Lewiston, Idaho; 23 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Alice Marie, son, Kay Wright, granddaughter, Joey Rupp, grandsons, Josh Rupp and Jake Wright, and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Hayden. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2007, at the El Rancho Ward LDS Chapel on 300 E. Chapel St. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2007, at the Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Avenue, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Interment will be held at the Thatcher, Idaho Cemetery following services on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in his name to any cancer organization.
