Darlene was born in Ogden, Utah, on Nov. 13, 1933, to Lyman and Abbie Purser. She grew up in Preston, Idaho, graduating from Preston High School. She married Quinn R. Bair on May 23, 1951, in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Lewiston, Utah, where she was a loving mother of her six children. In 1965, she started working for the Lewiston Elementary School lunch part-time so it wouldn't take away from her family. In 1972, they moved to Caldwell, Idaho, where she started working for the Caldwell School District, first as a cook, then as a manager for 27 years. Darlene was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She gave many years of service as a primary teacher, a counselor and teacher in the Young Women's organization, in the Relief Society presidency and as a homemaking counselor. Service was her middle name. What an example she was to all who knew her. Darlene may have retired from the Caldwell School District, but she never did retire from giving love and compassion or serving others. She gave endless hours of service at the church fruit farm. Her love of sharing her bountiful garden, her scrumptious baked goods and delicate, fine crocheted work was shared by everyone she knew. Some of her joys included playing games with her family, the simple purr of a kitten and feeding her best friends, the squirrels. Darlene was loved by all who knew her. Her faith, example and love are missed already. She is survived by her loving husband, Quinn; five children, Kathy (Clair) Hibbard of Providence, Utah, LaNae (Michael) Beckstead of Idaho Falls, Stanley (Becky) Bair, Steven (Charlene) Bair and Lloyd (Christine) Bair all of Caldwell; four sisters, Ruth Owens, Gail Woodall, Josie Mae Purser and Joann Ezola; two brothers, Gordon Purser and Sterling Purser; 23 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter; and four brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Middleton Stake Center, 23644 Old Hwy 30, Middleton, with Bishop Derik Hubert conducting. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Relief Society room prior to services. Burial and grave dedication will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Richmond Cemetery, Richmond, Utah. Published in the Logan Herald Journal from 12/3/2007 - 12/10/2007.
