She passed peacefully of natural causes related to age while in the care of loved ones at Care Source Hospice Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born March 4, 1927 in Turner, Idaho a daughter of William Rufus and Hanna May McLain Smith. Jerry married Gloyd LaMar Bennett on Nov. 19, 1945 and was sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan, Utah Temple on Jan. 5, 1948. Jerry graduated from Grace High School and attended Utah State University. She worked for several years side by side with her loving husband on their ranch in Thatcher, Idaho. She also worked as a professional seamstress and helped with school lunch while they lived in Thatcher. Jerry and Gloyd later moved to Logan, Utah where she worked for ZCMI Department Store and Utah State University in the Audio Visual Department. Jerry was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. ! She served faithfully in all organizations of the Church and also served in the Logan, Utah Temple. Jerry was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and six sisters. She is survived by her husband Gloyd, sister Aliene Robinson, two sons, and two daughters; Roger (Annette) Bennett, Salt Lake City, Utah; Pamela (Thomas) Cartwright, Soda Springs, ID; Louise (William) Smith, Naples, FL; Robert (Vicki) Bennett, Pleasant Grove, Utah; 17 grandchildren and 33 great-grand-children. Gloyd and Jerry sponsored Gretel Schmier from Germany and consider her and her family as their own. Gretel married Steven Anderson (Syracuse, Utah) giving Gloyd and Jerry two more grandsons and four more great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wed., May 16, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan. There will be a viewing from 11:00 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made i! n her name to Care Source Hospice, 1624 East 4500 South, Salt Lake Cit y, Utah 84117.
