She was born February 19, 1925 in Weston, Idaho, the daughter of Arthur Augustus Kofoed and Rachel Machen Kofoed. Effie was a cheerful person whose zest for life was contagious. Even during some of her most difficult times she never lost the gift of making others feel good. She spent most of her youth in Brigham City, Utah, moving to Detroit, Michigan, Southern California, St. George, Utah and then to the Ogden area to be close to family and long time friends. During her travels she worked for several organization, but most of her working career was spent at Douglas Aircraft in Southern California and after returning to Utah in the early 1960s she worked and retired from Defense Depot Ogden. She was married to Delore Walters (deceased), Richard Batten (deceased), Jack May (deceased) and is survived by her companion of several years Jack Ziemer. Surviving are her daughter, Sharon (Kenneth)Austin, Layton and son, Randy (Christy) Greever of Ogden,Utah, Grandchildren, Jack Bartley, Ryand and Rhianna Greever, Ogden, Utah. Also surviving are her brothers Jedd (Dorothy) Kofoed, St. George; Orivd (Anna Mae) Kofoed, Roy, UT, sister, Tessie Atkinson, Ogden, UT; half brothers, Cecil (Suzanne) Hope, Syracuse, Ut; Mickey (Faye) Hope, Ashton, ID; half-sister, Patty (George) Fishel, Layton, UT and step-brothers Robert (Marian) Hope, Brigham City, UT; Gary (Dorothy) Hope, Centerville, UT, step-sister, Colleen(Frank)Thompson, Ogden, UT. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Effie was preceded in death by former spouses, her father and mother, stepfather Clarence Hope, brothers Quay Kofoed and Vern Kofoed. Consistent with Effie's wishes, there will be no funeral. However a gathering of family and close friends will be held to celebrate her life and the joy she brought to each one. While her earthly presence will sorely be missed, the lovely memories she leaves will forever be treasured. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
