Mr. Ransom was born June 23, 1918, at Thatcher, the son of Hyrum A. and Lottie Covert Ransom. Clayton has been a lifelong resident of the Thatcher and Grace area where he farmed. Clayton was married to Lola Fowler on July 12, 1947, at Soda Springs. Lola passed away on March 13, 1966. Clayton married Helen Welker in November of 1973 at Thatcher. Helen passed away Aug. 4, 1995. He was educated in Thatcher schools. He was a member of the Thatcher LDS Ward. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He served in the Army from June 1941 through September 1945. Clayton is survived by two sons and two daughters, Sheila and Bob Welker, Ray and Marilyn Welker of Grace, James and Karen Welker of Soda Springs and Georgena Glover of Pocatello; also 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, Howard Ransom of Burley, Emily Miles of Idaho Falls and Chloe and Max Fowler of Grace. He was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, two sons, two daughters and one grandchild. Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Grace Cemetery with Bishop Tod Jensen officiating. Military graveside services will be by the Grace American Legion Post. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home of Soda Springs.
