He was born Aug. 14, 1925, in Preston, Idaho, the son of Harry Walter Christian and Cora Roxey Porter Knapp. He served his country in the Army during World War II. He served an LDS mission to the Northern States. He married Charlene Groneman Knapp on Feb. 12, 1950, in the Logan LDS Temple. He was a high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in three bishoprics, as a home teacher, gospel doctrine teacher, and a teacher in many of the auxiliaries. He was a dedicated and exemplary husband, father, and grandfather. He was an honest and loyal friend and neighbor. He is survived by his wife, Charlene, of Preston; four sons and two daughters, Kenneth Gary (Shannon) Knapp of Preston, Ruth Peart of Preston, Richard Creed (Sandy) Knapp of Linden, Utah, Mary (Lonnie) Lucherini of Denver, Colorado, Sterling G (Jennifer) Knapp of Manhattan, Kansas, Dolyn (Julie) Knapp of Grantsville, Utah; twenty-nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and by one brother and two sisters, H. Walter (Sharon) Knapp of Preston, Marjorie (Bruce) Hobbs of N. Logan, Utah, and Coleen (Bruce) McCammon of Wellsville, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter; one brother; and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, in the Mapleton (Cub River) Ward Chapel with Bishop Randy Halford conducting. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, and Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Mapleton, Idaho Cemetery.
