Surnames: Porter, Gray, Campbell Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Eg.2ADE/382 Message Board Post: Idaho State Journal, 01/03/02 PRESTON — Fonette Gray Porter, 85, returned to her heavenly home Dec. 31, 2001, at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston. She was born Sept. 23, 1916, to Clark P. and Lila May Campbell Gray in Thatcher, Idaho. She joined a family of seven brothers and six sisters. She married Nahum J. Porter in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple on Sept. 16, 1936, and they were the parents of four children, Terry (Arlene Balling) Porter, Weston, Idaho, Steven (Judy Garrett) Porter, Preston, Paula (David) Lemmon, Weston, Idaho, and Pegi (Larry) Huerta, Kent, Washington. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many ward and stake positions. She was MIA president, Relief Society president, MIA teacher, stake MIA board member and activities committee chairman. Her zest for life showed in all she did. She loved to dance, sing, and play the old-time songs on her piano. In her youth she never missed a dance — if she could find a way to get to it — and was always the belle of the ball. She was a beautiful seamstress, and loved to be with her lifelong friends. She was very involved in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities. To her last day she was an avid Utah Jazz fan and sports enthusiast. She is survived by her husband; two sons, two daughters, 18 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Helen Tingey, Sacramento, California, and Carol Dillon, Atlanta, Georgia; and one brother, Floyd Gray, Corvallis, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, by six brothers and four sisters and by a great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2002, in the Preston South Stake Center, 55 E. First South, with Bishop Robert Miller conducting. Friends may call Friday, Jan. 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the stake center. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
