He was born May 30, 1927, in Tyhee, Idaho, the son of James Verl and Hilda Sullivan Hansen. He married Edith Peterson on Sept. 6, 1949, in Preston, Idaho. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his family. He is survived by his wife, Edith, of Preston; five sons and seven daughters: Janet (Steve) Crandall, Georgetown, Idaho; Randy (Peggy) Hansen, Eden, Idaho; Sandy (Lonney) Smith, Soda Springs, Idaho; Susan (Lyle) Goodsell, Preston; Renee (Mike) Hillyard, Preston; Gary Hansen, Preston; Kurtis (Gail) Hansen, Kemmerer, Wyoming; Kristine (Bob) Eichten, Litchfield, Minnesota; Denise (Todd) Turner, Brant, Michigan; David (Rachel) Hansen, Wendell, Idaho; Steven (Amy) Hansen, Wendell; Penny (Jeff) Beus, Preston; 44 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers, LuJean (Richard) Tripp, Plain City, Utah; Hilda (Allen) Christiansen, Farr West, Utah; Helen (Dennis) Ralphs, Clifton, Idaho; Jay (Gayle) Hansen, Preston; Clair Hansen, Rexburg, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, in the Preston South Stake Center, 55 E. 1st St., with Bishop Robert Miller conducting. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, and Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the stake center. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
