Jorgensen passed away peacefully at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho, on January 25, 2002. He was born June 22, 1907, in Hayden, Idaho to Christian Elias and Annie Hansen Jorgensen. He was the fourth child born in a family of ten children. He resided most of his life in Idaho and Utah. His father passed away leaving his mother with six young children to raise. Al took a lot of responsibility and was a great help to his mother in raising the family. He was in the U.S. National Guard Calvary from 1925-28. He worked for the railroad. He also worked as a cook, cab and bus driver, and as a painter on his own and at Hill Air Force Base. He enjoyed carpentry work, painting and hunting. He married Patricia Ann Lorenzo on Jan. 20, 1938. She passed away in 1947. He married Reeta Cunningham Hansen on Oct. 2, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Reeta passed away on Dec. 7, 1982. They had one son, Duane. He married Marintha Covert on Jan. 12, 1984. They lived in Ogden, Utah, and Cleveland, Idaho, where he resided at the time of his death. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was very kind, humble, hardworking, funny, forgiving, and thoughtful, and he always put others before himself. He is survived by his wife, Marintha, of Cleveland, Idaho; his son, Duane Jorgensen, Ogden, Utah; by two granddaughters, Amanda Jorgensen, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Rochelle (Ron) Nistler, Ogden, Utah; sisters, Carrie Lee, Ogden, Utah; and Gay Scothern, Layton, Utah; stepchildren, Jerry (Nena) Hansen, Robinson, Wyoming; Nadine Benedict, Kaysville, Utah; Faye Orr, Garland, Utah; Theo (Sonjia) Covert, Preston, Idaho; Marlane (Gus) Nance, Cleveland, Idaho; Edwin Covert, Shelley, Idaho; Gaylin (Lynda) Covert, Victorville, California; Mark (Deb) Covert, Cleveland, Idaho; twenty-three step grandchildren, and by many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, by one sister and six brothers, and by a stepson, Larry Orr. Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, in the Thatcher, Idaho, LDS Church with Bishop Tod Jensen conducting. Friends may call Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Cleveland Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Webb Funeral Home, Preston, Idaho.
