He died peacefully on Tuesday, June 27, 2000, with his family at his side, after a heroic effort to survive leukemia. He was born April 23, 1953, to Fred John and LuDean Smith Hugie in Preston, Idaho. He was the third child of nine. He moved to Dugway, Clearfield, and Mountain Green. He served an LDS mission to the Fiji Suva Mission from 1973 to 1975. He married Shanna Lynne Christensen in the Salt Lake Temple after nearly a four-year engagement. They were blessed with four wonderful children - Tiffany, Cody, Christopher and Jennifer. They have lived in Kaysville, Salt Lake City, Logan, Nibley and Hyrum. He was a high priest in the Hyrum 1st Ward and had previously served as a teacher, ward clerk, executive secretary and Elders' Quorum president. Terry had a love for learning and an inner core of integrity. He was a man of his word, loyal and kind. He could be seen helping a neighbor in a snowstorm, although it meant more to him if no one knew. He worked hauling hay, landscaping for Clearfield Landscaping, making fishing rods for Browning Manufacturing, plant operator for Salt Lake City, Electrical Apprentice and has worked the past 23 years for Logan City Light and Power as a metering supervisor. Some of his choicest friends were the colleagues he was blessed to associate with. Terry had a love for home and family. His loving guidance to his children defined the title of Father. He taught his children early that they had a special haven in the world at home. He taught them that their real best friends were the members of their own family. Terry was a talented composer and poet. He was quiet about his talent but his light warmed many dark corners of the world and was never hidden. He always steered away from the praise of mankind. His music and words echo in the hearts of his family and friends. He taught his children early to love their Heavenly Father, truth and hard work. This is the legacy he leaves. He beautified his corner of the world and had a love for creating a tapestry of flowers and trees where weeds once stood. He is survived by his wife Shanna, Hyrum; daughter, Tiffany (Bryan) Skelton, Salt Lake City; son, Cody, serving an LDS Mission in the Columbus Ohio Mission; son, Christopher, Hyrum; daughter, Jennifer, Hyrum. He is also survived by his parents, Mountain Green; four brothers, Jon (Karen) Hugie, Syracuse, Kim (Kathy) Hugie, Mountain Green, Paul (Paulette) Hugie, Peterson, David (Diane) Hugie, Layton; four sisters, Glenda (Larry) Pentz, Croydon, LuAnn (Joe) Pentz, Croydon, Denise (Wayne) Price, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Tresa (Tony) Jones, Morgan; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. His grandparents preceded him in death. Special thanks are given to his donor, Tresa Jones, Dr. Edward Redd (for being a friend as well as his doctor), the UofU Oncology/Hematology Team, the UofU bone marrow transplant doctors, nurses and staff, the Hyrum City First Responders, the Logan City Paramedics, Logan Regional Hospital Staff, the UofU Critical Care Unit, and the UofU Surgical Intensive Care Unit. He would want you each to know that this was a battle well worth waging and many choice bonus days were spent with family and friends because of your tireless efforts. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 1, with Bishop Conley Schwartz conducting at the Hyrum Stake Center, 595 S. 200 East, Hyrum, Utah, at 12:30 pm. Friends may call Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan, Utah, and from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, at the church. Burial will be held in the Hyrum Cemetery.
