Id Obits Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Id/FranklinObits/217 Surname: Gibson, Nash, Day ------------------------- The Idaho State Journal 10-13-2000 FRANKLIN - Gwen Nash Gibson, 83, of Franklin, Idaho, passed away October 10, 2000, while at the Idaho Falls Care Center, Idaho Falls, Idaho, of natural causes. She was born on July 7, 1917, in Richmond, Utah, to Myrtle Day and Bartlett Martin Nash. She was raised on the family ranch near Franklin, Idaho. She attended school in Franklin, with the exception of her senior year, graduating from Preston High School in 1935. She continued her education at Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, Utah. She married Percival (Perc) Gibson on November 23, 1937, in Logan, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Following the death of her mother in 1946, Gwen and Perc took her 4-year-old sister, Shannon, and raised her as their own. Gwen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in the Franklin Ward and Stake Young Women's presidencies, as ward Relief Society president, and as Sunday school coordinator and secretary. She was secretary of the Idaho Pioneer Association for almost 40 years, an officer in the Pink Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Gwen enjoyed entertaining, and was most happy when she was surrounded by her family and by her friends. She is survived by Shannon and her husband, Cleo Geddes of Idaho Falls; their children, Penni Allen of Fremont, Calif., Karri Tingey (Derek) of Grant, Idaho, Rich (Tammy) Geddes of Rexburg, Idaho, Julie (Chad) Adams of Waco, Texas; a brother, Lyle (UVonna) Nash of Franklin; and a sister, Oveda Alder of Salt Lake City, Utah; and five great-grandchildren, Jessica, Nathan, Carter, Logan and Tanner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Perc, who passed away July 28, 1980, her parents, and an infant sister, Marjorie. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 14, at 11 a.m. in the Whitney LDS Church. The family will visit with friends at Webb Funeral Home in Preston tonight, Friday, Oct. 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in the Franklin Cemetery.
