Kofoed Anderson, 77, died early Friday morning, September 15, 2000, at her home from cancer with her family present. The sixth child of Orson and Ercil Kofoed, she was born June 27, 1923, at Clifton, Idaho. She graduated from Clifton High School. She worked during World War II inspecting guns at the Arsenal in Ogden, Utah. She married Osmyn Earl Anderson, the man she sent off to war as a boy, November 23, 1945, in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized later in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 6, 1965. He preceded her in death April 9, 1992. They lived in Clifton for the first ten years. They then moved to Paris, then to Nampa and settled in Pocatello in 1961. Mary worked for Lamb-Weston to help support her family and a missionary. She also worked for years at the Bannock County election polling booths. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as Relief Society president, Young Women's president, visiting teacher, compassionate service leader and served in the Primary Presidency. She played basketball and baseball in school. She liked to arm wrestle with her children and grandchildren. She loved to bake, put up fruit and kept a beautiful home. She enjoyed watching tennis and volleyball. Mary sang at weddings, church functions and her own graduation. Above all, her favorite activities were family home evenings, special occasions and being surrounded by family. During their retirement years Mary and Oz loved to travel with friends and family. Mary is survived by her stepmother, Edna Kofoed Morrison of Williams, Calif.; two sisters, Bertha and Bern Mendenhall of Emmett; Narvie and Gerald Smith of Williams, California; one brother, Orson Ray Kofoed of Sacramento, Calif,; three sons, Kevin Drew and Michelle Anderson of Pocatello; Osmyn Kort Anderson of Pocatello; Kim and Jane Anderson of Salt Lake City, Utah; three daughters, Penny and Jerry Brackett, Turlock, Calif.; Lezlie and Mitch Simmons of Pocatello; Sandra and Jeffrey Roler of Pocatello; 20 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, three brothers and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Pocatello Central LDS Fourth Ward, 550 W. Cedar St., with C. Dee Holmes conducting. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening in the Henderson-Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church Wednesday. Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Idaho. The family wishes to thank Southeastern District Hospice for their loving services during her illness.
