Many drew courage and strength by her courage to survive cancer. She fought for life every day for three years after being diagnosed. She was born Nov. 10, 1932, in Preston, Idaho, to Eugene Adam and Lillie Jensen Kofoed. She married Clayne Pearson on Dec. 27, 1953. Their marriage was solemnized in the Mesa Arizona Temple on June 8, 1963. Nelda loved being involved with her family and friends. Many hours were spent laughing and playing games. She supported her grandchildren in their activities. She took great pride in her flower garden. She made many beautiful quilts and afghans. Her most fun times were spent on trips taken with her sweetheart and close friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Nelda belonged to the Preston Bridge Club, and was a member of the Preston Ladies Golf Association. She retired from Sears where she worked in sales. Over the years, she held many church positions in Young Womens, Primary, and Scouting programs. She loved the gospel and enjoyed teaching the youth. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Clayne Pearson, Preston; two sons and four daughters, Kim (Tammy) Pearson, South Jordan, Utah, Kristal (Steve) Call, Preston, Shelley (Scott) Thomson, South Jordan, Utah, Donna (Mike) Cunningham, Preston, Clayne (Jenny) Pearson, Taylorsville, Utah, Pam (Dave) Maxfield, Preston; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carol Glad, Salt Lake City, Utah, Valene (Burt) Howell, Alpine, Utah, Gloria (Bill) Callister, Bennion; and two brothers, Lynn (Ila) Kofoed, Evanston, Wyo., and Marlin (Jeddy) Kofoed, Santa Fe, N.M. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, John Kofoed, and a sister, Norma Spackman. Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, in the Preston North Stake Center, 310 N. State St., with Bishop Steven Fuller conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida St., Preston, and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the stake center. Burial will be in the Weston, Idaho, Cemetery.
