Id Obits Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Id/FranklinObits/202 Surname: Wilding, Porter, Peterson ------------------------- The Idaho State Journal 09-08-2000 Laura Porter Wilding, 80, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at Curry Estates Retirement Center in Twin Falls. She was born February 4, 1920, in Preston, Idaho, the daughter of Albert and Mary Peterson Porter. Laura was raised in Preston, graduating from high school there. In 1939 she moved to Salt Lake City where she worked as a nanny and housekeeper. While there, Laura dated a man named Cecil Harvey Wilding whom she had met in Preston during her senior year in high school. On May 6, 1939, she married Cecil in Salt Lake City. They lived in Springville for a few years. In 1952 they moved to Idaho where they farmed in the Canyonside area. Then in 1963, they purchased a farm in Hunt and lived there until Cecil retired in 1977. In 1977 they built a new home in Preston, they built a cabin on Blackfoot Reservoir and had a winter home at Beaver Dam, Arizona. They so enjoyed commuting between these homes during the different seasons. In August of 1991, Cecil passed away and Laura sold everything and moved to Twin Falls, where she purchased a home in the Lazy J Mobile Park. She has spent the last two and a half years at the Curry Estates Retirement Center where she had many friends and received the most wonderful care from the staff there. Laura was an active member of the LDS Church. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She always wanted to do what was right and was always a kind and gentle person to all. She is survived by three children, Lynn Wilding, Twin Falls, Idaho; Kathryn (Tuck) Taylor, Kimberly, Idaho; Carla (Joe) Whitish, Boise, Idaho; four grandchildren, Dale Taylor, Hagerman, Idaho; Jill Taylor, Kimberly, Idaho; Glenn (Wendy) Taylor, American Fork, Utah; and Allison (Billy) King, Meridian, Idaho; 14 great- grandchildren, and by three brothers and one sister, Preston (Margaret) Porter, Boise, Idaho; Blaine (Fern) Porter, Preston, Idaho; John (Clarice) Porter, Logan, Utah; and Fern Larson, Preston, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband, and by five brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, in the Preston North Stake Center, 310 N. State, with Bishop David Fryar conducting. Friends may call Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the stake center. Burial will be in the Richmond, Utah, Cemetery. Arrangements are by Webb Funeral Home, Preston.
