He was born Sept. 17, 1934, in Hyrum, Utah, the son of Richard Basil and Josephine Kate Rose Eliason. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He married Shirlee Ann Sparrow on August 16, 1979, in Elko, Nevada. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and four-wheeler rides with his friends. He loved people and enjoyed visiting with them. He loved high school sports and was an excellent carpet layer by trade — always in very high demand. He is survived by his wife, Shirlee, of Preston; two sons and seven daughters, David James (Susan) Eliason, Malad, Idaho, Richard Dee (Evlalee) Eliason, Nibley, Utah, Carol Ann Wilkinson, Smithfield, Utah, Teresa Lee (Terry) Taylor, Orem, Utah, Susan (Kyle) West, Smithfield, Utah, Julie Ann (Michael) Smith, Preston, Shelly (Dee) Steadman, Grace, Idaho, Shonna (Keith) Cole, Preston, Hallie Robinson, Preston; 22 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two sisters and six brothers, Rose Hutchinson, Salt Lake City, V. Peter (Sally) Eliason, Las Vegas, Nev., Boyd J. (Daisy) Eliason, Las Vegas, Paul Eliason, Sweden, Pauline Eliason, Brea, California, Stephen (Marilyn) Eliason, Logan, Utah, Douglas R. Eliason, Las Vegas, and Thayle (Marilyn) Eliason, Wellsville, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, by two infant brothers and an infant sister, and by a grandson, Malcolm A. Palmer. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at noon in the Fairview Second Ward Chapel, with Bishop Keith Bosworth conducting. Friends may call Friday, Sept. 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church in Fairview and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., also at the church. Interment will be in the Dayton Cemetery. Arrangements are by Webb Funeral Home.
