Winn, 101, passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at his home in Salt Lake City. He was born April 28, 1901, in Preston, Idaho, the son of Marion Anderson and Rosella Ann Nelson Winn. He married Erma Winona Bennett on Dec. 24, 1924, in the Logan Temple. They were married for 77 years and were recognized by the Leo Burnett All State Agency of Chicago, Illinois, as the longest married couple in the United States. He farmed in Idaho and worked at the Franklin County Sugar Company until moving to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1965. There he worked at the LDS Hospital in the Animal Research Lab. He loved to camp, and he spent many wonderful winters in Blythe, California, Buckeye, Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada. He enjoyed riding his adult tricycle and was known as the "Bike Man". He was an inspiration to everyone in the neighborhood- he continued to ride his bike until May 2002 at the age of 101. He was a high priest and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his wife, Erma B. Winn, Salt Lake City; three sons and two daughters, Paul B. Winn, Las Vegas, Nevada; Clare B. (Marlene) Winn, Salt Lake City; Orin B. Winn, Salt Lake City; Deyon Cazier, Salt Lake City; Idella (Alex) Todd, Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Carl George Winn, by a daughter, Erma Dene Winn, and by four brothers. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. in the Granite Park Stake Center, 601 E. Mansfield Ave. (3100 S.), Salt Lake City, with Bishop Robert Enser conducting. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Granite Park Stake Center and Friday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. also at the stake center. Additional services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 1:00 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, Idaho. Friends may call Saturday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home in Preston. Interment ! will be in the Preston, Idaho Cemetery. Published in the Salt Lake Tribune on 9/18/2002.
