He died of complications from lymphoma.Robert was born Sept 28, 1933 in Preston, ID to Robert Donald Jones Sr and Berneice Smith Jones. He was the oldest of three children. He graduated from Box Elder High School and received his Master's of Education from the University of Utah. He retired from the Army Reserves as a Lt Col. He loved fishing and teaching his children and grandchildren to fish. He chose many different careers during his life but valued most being a father and teacher. He served an honorable mission to New Zealand and was an active high priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He faithfully fulfilled many church callings throughout his life. He married his eternal sweetheart, Noel Ann Platt, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple Oct 5, 1959. Survived by wife, Noel; nine children, Robert, David, Steven (Lisa), Julianne (Dave) Wanlass, Lorilee (Nathan) Colgrove, Daniel, Debbilyn (Mark) Pope, Bonnikay, Benjamin; two sisters, Barbara Lyon, Patricia (Kent) Stewart; and 12 grandchildren. Pre-ceded in death by his parents. Services will be Wed. 12 noon, Alpine 6th Ward Chapel, 1001 E. Village Way. Viewing, Tues. 6-8 p.m., Larki! n Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 E. 1300 S, and Wed. 10:30-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Alpine City Cemetery. Published in the Deseret News on 9/1/2002.
