He was born Nov. 23, 1921, in Weston, Idaho, the son of Heber Raymond and Emma Rich Bingham. He was raised in Linrose on the family farm where he learned to work hard under the tutelage of his father and older brothers. He served in the European Theater in World War II and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He married June Marjorie Zollinger on Sept. 17, 1942, in the Logan LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on March 22, 1976. They were the parents of nine children. He married Betty Ann Mason on Dec. 18, 1976, in the Ogden LDS Temple. They were the parents of nine children. He graduated from USU with a B.S. in Ag. Econ. He used his education to develop a 1500-acre farm from gravel and swamp along the Bear River. He was a pioneer in applying drainage and sprinkler irrigation and developed many innovative farming techniques. He taught his family the value of work on the family farm. He also worked as a researcher for USU Ag. Extension Services, participated in Soil Conservation activities, water management development, and dairy and farm product market development. In his later years, he worked as a school teacher in Arizona. Eldon was an active member of the LDS Church and served in the Young Men's presidency, seventies group leadership, stake mission president, stake missionary three times, bishopric, member of stake high council, and was a dedicated scout master and supporter of scouting for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann, of Dayton, Idaho and Mesa, Ariz.; and by 14 children, Gail (Gloria) Bingham, Hyde Park, Utah, Geraldine (Bill) Norton, Cedar City, Utah, Lucy (Ivan) Beutler, Provo, Utah, Susan (Kevin) Allen, Dayton, LeGrand (Jolene) Bingham, River Heights, Utah, Douglas (Brenda) Bingham, Katy, Texas, Morris (Bonnie) Bingham, Somers, Conn., Nancy (James) Weidenhamer, Leesburg, Va., Wendy (Bob) Savage, Liverpool, N.Y., Cindy Bingham, Dayton, Linda (Monte) Henderson, Swan Lake, Idaho, Donna (Daniel) Johnson, Warrenville, S.C., Leslie (Larry) Nielsen, Magna, Utah, and Orval Bingham, Dayton, Idaho, and Mesa, Ariz. He is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Kanda Lee (Richard) Bingham (Craig) Alder, Spanish Fork, Utah; and by 75 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, five brothers and five sisters. He was preceded in death by one brother, three sons, Richard, Joseph, and Adam, and by a daughter, Aaron. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Aug. 5, in the Dayton LDS Ward chapel with Bishop Ron Atkinson conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, at Webb Funeral Home and from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Dayton Cemetery.
