He was born Jan. 8, 1911, in Glendale, Idaho, to William Henry and Alta Jensen Auger. He grew up on the family farm in Glendale, attending schools in Glendale, Preston, and the Utah State Agricultural College. He married Ethel Luinna Owen on June 7, 1934, in the Logan LDS Temple. He worked as a mechanic on farm equipment and heavy machinery, retiring from Western Equipment in Pocatello, Idaho, as shop manager in 1976. He traveled to many farms in southeast Idaho fixing farm equipment and had many friends among those farmers. He was very talented at fixing everything for everyone and he loved to garden. He was active in the LDS Church, serving as bishop of the Preston 4th Ward, as stake financial clerk, Sunday School president, and temple officiator at the Logan Temple for over six years. He is survived by his wife, Ethel; four daughters and three sons, Luinna (Milton) Jensen, Alan (Iris) Auger, and Joan Auger, all of Kaysville, Utah; Lorraine (Ramon) Wright, Franklin, Idaho; Owen (Cleone) Auger, Portland, Oregon; Mary (Alan) Bair, Byron, Wyo.; James (Chris) Auger, Pocatello, Idaho; 33 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; one sister, Loretta Sharp; and by four brothers, Bernon, Daniel, Bill, and Hyrum. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Verl and Arnold, and by two grandsons. Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, in the Preston North Stake Center, 310 N. State St., with Bishop Steven Fuller conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Webb Funeral Home and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the stake center. Burial will be in the Preston Cemetery.
